Sorry, but for now no more handshakes or hugs!
As we look forward to getting past the worst of the COVID-19 outbreak, Hummingbird Car rental (HBC) has made several changes to our operations. The most significant changes have been in the following areas of rental reservation, cleaning vehicles and in-person interactions with customers:
- Cleaning vehicles —in addition to our normal cleaning procedures, virus-killing disinfectant will be used in all areas of the rental vehicle. Special care will be taken to thoroughly clean high touch areas such as door handles, steering, and radio.
- In-person interactions— Luckily, our business model is already based primarily on delivering vehicles to customers. So, social distancing should be easier than it would be for customers coming to our offices. For vehicle-delivery interactions, our field representatives will wear masks and gloves. They will perform the final disinfection of internal areas and door handles before vehicles are handed over to customers. Inline, with social distancing recommendations, our reps will place all documentations needed to be signed on the car bonnet, for customers to check the vehicle and sign themselves.
We ask for your patience and understanding with this new rental policy. The safety of our customers and representatives is of paramount importance to HBC. This policy will continue until we get rid of this COVID-19 scourge.
Finally, though there has been an increase in COVID-19 cases on the island, we continue to trust the measures employed by the government to reduce the spread of the virus. The government continues to adjust measures to protect all residents and visitors, but also with a few exceptions, Jamaicans have cooperated with the new safety regulations. With the implementation of the vaccine roll out, as of April 13, 2021, over 100,000 Jamaicans have been vaccinated so far.
We pray that even though there has been an increase in, with the continued measures and the introduction of the vaccine, Jamaica will continue to fight against the COVID-19 virus. We also send a special prayer for members of the diaspora that have been affected.
